Gathering for Comfort

Hey Team CareGivers (TCG Family and Friends)!

The word this morning at the prayer gathering was “comfort”.  Comforting people was one of the primary ministries that the prophet said would mark the ministry of the Messiah.  Isaiah shared that the promised Messiah would:  proclaim good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, set captives free, release those in bondage, comfort those mourning, and replace mourning with joy.  Among these primary ministries of the Messiah is comforting the grieving ones.

Jesus fulfilled all of these ministries because He was the promised Messiah who had come to earth.  As we focused on comfort this morning, we noted again that God is the “God of all comfort”.  God the Holy Spirit can comfort us, no matter how big or small our need for consolation.  His comfort can be real and personal for us whether our loss is the death of a loved one, or loss of a job, or loss or a relationship, or loss of health, or loss of finances and possessions, or any other loss that we can experience as human beings.

Holy Spirit, I pray your comforting ministry for everyone who reads these thoughts this morning.  However great or small the loss, it is their loss, and I pray that you will help them to grieve in a healthy way with hope.  Help them to know that You are the only source of comfort, so, they can only fully and completely be comforted by You.  I pray that you are so real and personal to them in these moments that they know you love and care for them.  I pray they release their griefs and losses into Your care, and they receive the reality of Your comforting ministry and Your peace.  In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

In Him,

Wade
