Hope in a Time of Isolation and Distancing

Hey Team Caregivers (TCG Family and Friends)!
There seems to be both a growing optimism and a growing discontent as we journey through the valley of
social distancing, restrictions, and isolation. Either optimism or pessimism can be constructive or destructive
depending on our perceptions, attitudes, and convictions. What we cannot allow is either optimism or pessimism
to distract us from genuine hope.
The songwriter said it like this: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness…” Paul
identified the Lord Jesus Christ as “our hope” (I Tim. 1:1). Genuine lasting hope is not a wishful anticipation of
the future. Real and lasting hope is not only in a person, but is personified in an individual. Who better to hope
In than the One who rose from the dead and overcame sin, death, and hell forever? Who better to claim as your
source of hope and genuine hope than Hope Himself?
Biblical hope is not an “I hope so” kind of concept. It is a sure thing kind of word. Earthly hopes may or may not
come through, but spiritual eternal hope is a deep and personal reality. When our temporal hopes are not fulfilled,
we are disappointed and become discouraged. Of genuine hope Paul wrote, “Now hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us (Rom. 5:5).”
When Jesus is your hope and He assures you of that hope by giving you His Holy Spirit, you will not be disappointed.
I am pretty sure that you won’t be disappointed in heaven when hope is ultimately fulfilled and no more needed.
In Him,
Wade
