Laugh or Cry
Chaplain Wade Graber

Hey Team CareGivers (TCG Family and Friends)!
“Laugh or cry, and let the joy of the Lord be your strength.”
That has been our approach to life in our wild and wacky world.
I know that I’ve shared this before, but sometimes we need to remind ourselves.
Yesterday was my mom’s 90 day evaluation with the nursing staff. Her dementia
causes digression to happen in various areas of her life. It can be very sad, but sometimes
humorous. Sad or glad, good or bad—“the joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh.8:10).”
Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes: “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose
under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace; and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love and a time to hate;
A time of war and a time of peace…
He has made everything beautiful in its time”.
These are the temporal earthly things that play a part or counter part in our lives. A few
sentences later Solomon wrote, “I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever.” May all
of the encounters we experience in life be lived with the joy of the Lord in light of eternity.
In Him,
Wade
