Pure Forgiving Snow

Hey Team CareGivers (TCG Family and Friends)!
I pray that you are staying warm and have plenty of food and basics of life during these bitter cold and snowy days. Please let me know if you or your family have any special needs during these times.
On the positive side of the snowy blanket covering the earth, I am reminded this morning of the drastic and complete forgiveness of God, visualized in the covering of snow. Two passages popped into my mind as I looked out the window this morning. One is David’s heart desire for God’s forgiveness for all of the sins connected to his affair with Bathsheba (ie. the lust, adultery, deception, and arrangement for her husband’s death in battle). He knew that the Lord’s forgiveness was drastic and great enough to handle every sin that he had committed, so he included in his confession and outcry for mercy, “Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow (Ps. 51:7).” David knew that ultimately every sin is against God, and God was the ultimate source of total and complete forgiveness. It would be like a blanket of snow covering the earth to have all of his sins washed away and he could start again with a clean slate and a pure heart.
The second passage that came to mind was Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” The snowy picture of the drastic and complete forgiveness of God is a blood stained piece of material that is washed and no longer has any sign of being stained; only pure white. Wow! And these two passages say nothing of the numerous references to the total and complete forgiveness of Jesus by His drastic sacrificial death on the cross!
It’s cold! It’s snowy! But, in addition to the benefits of the snow (ie. moisture, recreational fun, promotion of indoor family time, etc.), don’t forget the picture of God’s drastic and total forgiveness. Blessings!
In Him,
Wade
