The Times Are Changing

Hey Team CareGivers (TCG Family and Friends)!
I stumbled onto a song that our Bible study group in college wrote in 1977.
The lyrics of the tune help us to know what was going on during that year.
For example:
“Smog in the air, pollution in the sea
But, my God’s got a plan for this society.
Where is the energy, and why don’t it last?
I’m glad my power’s from the Holy Ghost,
And not from natural gas.”
We were pretty clever, huh? Apparently, the major issues of the day included
air pollution, water pollution, and energy/fuel shortage. Ten years later at the
end of 1987, I noted that our major concerns included arms control, hostages,
changes in leadership and laws, famines continuing, and the space race.
If we were to write a song today that matched the focus of the 1977 lyrics, and
the 1987 concerns, what would be included on the list? You and I know most
every dilemma that would be included in those verses. But, no matter the content
of the verses with lyrics of major concerns, the chorus could remain the same as a
solution to the problems and woes of any decade or moment of time.
The chorus simply said, “Let’s get closer to heaven in 1977
Then we will see Jesus blessin’ you and me.”
Draw close to Jesus and He will carry you through the personal and global major
issues of life.
In Him,
Wade
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world
you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (Jn. 16:33).”
